Our Humble Beginnings, at Stoney Creek, began back in 1993 as a special kind of summer camp, for a unique group of individuals. Three ordinary guys with an extraordinary vision saw a specific need within the lives of the average Canadian. Drawn by an unquenchable thirst to fulfill the “Great Commission,” we used our positions as Youth Pastor’s to explore the idea of short and long-term missions. Our Goal was simple; fulfill the call to reach out to the lost, provide basic needs to the “orphans and widows,” and allow God to work through us to change the hearts of not only the people we worked with, but our hearts and the people that served with us.

With God as our guide we were ready to be changed, meet new challenges, and explore newfound abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Driven by our desire to meet this need we struck out with very little sleep, a lot of hard work, and the open road to the Mexican Baja. Did we ever have a lot to learn!
On our very first summer we set off on this noble quest with thirteen teenagers. The results of this experience were astounding. For seven days we worked in the transient work camps of the Mexican Baja. Overwhelmed by the great need and the incredible response to the Gospel we grew together, depended on one another, and became a close-knit team. Our experience brought life to a whole new level. As we watched the change overtake our group, we too changed. Truly “missions” does as much for those who serve as for those your team will bless.
Without exception our team experienced its own struggles and growing pains. However, as teens encouraged each other, dealt with personal issues, and rose to meet new challenges we realized the potential of what we were discovering. Since that moment we haven’t looked back. Today, Stoney Creek has grown to meet the needs of all ages, year round in three countries. We introduce teams from all evangelical denominations to reach their own potentials and calling through Foreign Service. We have spent thousands upon thousands of hours in the mission field with hundreds of fellow believers, many of who return to us year after year for a new challenge and a different level of service. Most recently we have expanded into a college and developed a leadership-training program for individuals that share our passion and want to be a part of the Stoney Creek and Basecamp family. By networking with other believers, Stoney Creek hopes to reach into more countries and communities around the world.

Today we are still a special kind of camp for a unique group of individuals. However, things have come a long way since those early days with a handful of teens, but one thing has remained the same; our commitment to help those who we serve, further the kingdom of God, and use the tools we have been given to help others discover the joy in serving our Father.
Stoney Creek Expeditions continues to expand, and in 1997 furthered our much-needed service to college and career, intergenerational groups, and families. Our new tour philosophy is simple; provide low cost transportation with high quality service to churches and organizations wanting to make a mission’s trip a reality. Having once been Youth Pastor’s, we at Stoney Creek understand the importance of a “stress” free trip. Even though we are unable to control the relational dynamics of any group, we can, however, take the guesswork out of the voyage. Imagine the relief knowing you needn’t worry about cost overrun, transportation, gas, drivers, food, or time schedules. At Stoney Creek we take care of all these things and more, at a very cost effective rate. Ultimately, Stoney Creek provides the vehicle to experience a life-changing event, regardless of economic status.
